Interstitial cystitis (IC), also called painful bladder syndrome and frequency-urgency-dysuria syndrome, is a complex, chronic disorder of unknown etiology characterized by inflammation and irritation of the bladder wall which can lead to scarring and stiffening of the bladder, decreased bladder capacity, pinpoint bleeding, and, in rare cases, ulceration of the bladder lining.

There is no specific Western medical treatment for Interstitial Cystitis.   However, at the Institute of Alternative Medicine, Dr. Gu has developed a special herbal remedy which has proven to effectively treat interstitial cystitis.   Bringing together her knowledge of western medicine and Chinese medicine, she developed a formula which has allowed her patients to be symptom free.
